The Arrival Brief

Your airport to their runway

Enter where you fly from and this page assembles the arrival picture for four Front Range airpark communities: distance and course, published runway geometry, the current official weather, and what permission each field requires. Every fact is FAA or National Weather Service published and labelled with its source.

Orientation for a property decision, never flight guidance. Plan every flight with current official sources.

Try KAPA, Centennial, or Dallas. Every operational U.S. airport in the FAA record is here.

Aircraft, optional

Optional. Choose a profile and every community gains a no-wind time and the share of that aircraft’s published range the trip would use.

The arcs are great circles drawn for orientation: the shortest line between two points on the globe, not a route, a heading to fly, or navigation.

The method

Where every number comes from

Airport facts are read from the FAA’s National Airspace System Resource subscription, the 2026-08-06 cycle, the same data behind the Chart Supplement: runway dimensions and alignment, lighting, visual glide slope indicators, traffic pattern sides, remarks and published contacts, quoted without editing. Weather is a live Aviation Weather Center observation, always shown with its station, distance and age. Distances and courses are great-circle calculations from published coordinates; wind components are trigonometry on published geometry.

Where the record is silent, the brief says “not published” rather than filling the space. And nothing on the page selects a runway, a route or an approach; those decisions belong to the pilot in command with current official data.

Asked before wheels up

Can I fly in and land at these communities today?
Erie Municipal Airport is public use, so no landing permission is required there. Parkland Estates, Kelly Air Park and Van Aire Skyport are private airfields: landing requires permission arranged in advance, and the brief quotes the FAA record's own terms for each field along with its published contacts.
Where do the numbers come from?
Airport data comes from the FAA's National Airspace System Resource, currently the 2026-08-06 cycle, the same files behind the Chart Supplement. Weather is a live observation from the National Weather Service Aviation Weather Center, quoted with its station and age. Aircraft figures are manufacturer-published cruise and range numbers, used for illustration only.
Why does the brief never recommend a runway or a route?
Because that decision belongs to the pilot in command, with current official information. The brief draws the published runway geometry, computes the trigonometry of the reported wind against each runway end, and stops there. It is orientation for a property decision, not flight guidance.
Do the wind figures use magnetic or true north?
Both, each where it belongs. METAR winds are reported in degrees true, and runway numbers are magnetic designations. The brief reconciles them through the FAA-published true alignment where one exists, or the field's published magnetic variation otherwise, and the runway drawing states which was used.
Can I share or print a brief?
Yes. Your departure airport, aircraft profile and chosen community live in the page address, so copying the link reproduces the exact brief, and the print button produces a clean paper copy.
